Diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) concerns are increasingly recognized as fundamental dimensions of ecology that researchers, teachers, and practitioners must acknowledge the integral nature of DEIJ issues to all ecological applications. DEIJ efforts have arisen separately in many different sections and groups across ESA. While these multiple manifestation of DEIJ concerns are welcome, it does raise the prospect of duplication and fragmentation of effort, consequently potentially slowing progress in DEIJ realms. The Human Dimensions Collaborative is an informal multi-section effort to create synergy and cohesiveness across the DEIJ work being done across sections, including meaningful ways to integrate DEIJ work into ESA’s annual conference for both conference attendees and the larger community.

This INSPIRE session showcases the ESA Sections and Chapters engaged in inclusion and diversity efforts, including potential initiatives explored in a workshop on the Human Dimensions Collaborative. Speakers will unravel the synergies and distinctions between participating ESA Sections and Chapters. Join us to learn about what they are up to and how you can become involved!
