Justice issues have a long tradition in disciplines that apply ideas and concepts from ecology but have a relatively short history in ecology. An emerging focus on justice within ESA challenges the image of what ecologist look like, what they study, and how they work with people. ESA's Environmental Justice Section has addressed this change focus by working with members and the justice community to consider the role of ecology in environmental justice issues and the role of justice in the practice of ecology.
