Humans make thousands of decisions daily. Wouldn’t it be nice if big decisions about environmental policy were based on ecological knowledge? ESA’s Policy Section helps bring together ecologists and environmental decision-makers. We build awareness of career opportunities in science policy and avenues to connect ecologists and their science with decision-makers on specific issues. We support student interest in decision-relevant science by giving travel grants to the annual meeting. We also bring local experts and advocates to the annual meeting to help us understand the complex human and political context for incorporating ecological knowledge.
