The hype around green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) is building as an attractive nature-based solution for managing stormwater in cities. With mounting implementation, we want to know what benefits we’re getting out of GSI and how we can do better. Here I’ll talk about bottom-up and top-down efforts to considering GSI: quantifying ecosystem services (and disservices) of individual GSI in order to understand current benefits, and future opportunities for improvement in design, and then pair this with work at the city scale thinking about their current portfolios of GSI and how to build on this in the future.
