Everyone in green urbanism circles makes strong claims about the value of nature. If we truly believe in nature’s benefits, then who should enjoy them? Everyone. Does everyone? No. The world over, open spaces and ecosystem services tend to be for the benefit of richer or more connected people. This has to change in any city we would call just, and every practitioner of nature-based solutions must engage with the idea of justice as a key part of their work.
