Forecasting the near-term future is a motivating call to action for students in our era of rapid environmental change. Learning forecasting methods and applications presents opportunities for cross-disciplinary training at the intersection of ecological theory and modeling, data science, communication, and collaboration with stakeholders. The potential utility of ecological forecasting in helping to envision the near future creates a strong imperative for building equitable and inclusive pathways to learn and apply forecasting skills. This presentation will highlight pedagogical opportunities for making forecasting an inclusive practice for students.
