As the Director of the Pardee Center for the Longer-Range Future, Dr. Janetos’s work advanced a long-term vision for sustainability that recognized the deep linkages between social and ecological well-being. Inspired by his vision, my own work explores how climate vulnerability propels adaptive behaviors through participation in policy and community organizing around climate action. In this presentation, I illustrate how front-line communities most vulnerable to climate change are engaging with policymakers in long-term visioning for climate action and express how this work advances Dr. Janetos’s legacy by drawing out the social-ecological linkages of climate change in an uncertain future.
