Through the lens, not of a scientist, but the University’s AVP for Sustainability, this talk will address the legacy Tony Janetos’ leadership has left at Boston University through the development of a Climate Action Plan approved in 2017. The Plan commits the University to achieve net neutrality by 2040, prepare our campuses for the impacts of a changing climate and integrate climate change and sustainability into the curriculum, research, and the University’s emerging Strategic Plan. I will discuss how Tony’s leadership, collaborative nature, coercive abilities, and the trust he commanded led to a bold plan that is being implemented.
