Tony and I co-led the development of a National Climate Indicator System which is a “system of physical, natural, and societal indicators that communicate and inform decisions about key aspects of the physical climate, climate impacts, vulnerabilities, and preparedness” (Kenney et al., 2016). When we started envisioning it, Tony was critical in building a coalition of over 200 Federal, academic, and private sector experts to work on this challenge with us. And together we were able to make influential recommendations and prototypes that created one of the first sustained assessment products of the U.S. National Climate Assessment.
