Creative conservation approaches are being developed to address the intensifying and extensive conservation challenges caused by climate change. In this session, land and water stewards, conservation practitioners and researches will share examples of climate change adaptation approaches that aim to prepare ecosystems for climate change resilience and/or triage emergent impacts on vulnerable populations, species or ecosystems. The moderator will facilitate a discussion around the risks and benefits of these approaches; the challenges and opportunities involved with implementing novel strategies within the traditional constraints of public land/water management; the scalability of the works presented; and the important role for collaborative, translational science between researchers, public land managers and indigenous stewards in climate change adaptation.
