As an environmental educator I joke that I’m more like a magician. Whether I'm taking a bird out of a carrier in the classroom, owlets out of a nest box in the forest, or a falcon out of a can at migration, my job almost always involves an unveiling process. This process is full of wonder. I’ve seen students laugh, cry, squeel, or fall still in reverence. By providing novel experiences with the natural world I create space for meaningful connections. In these unveiling moments I strive to instill sense of place, inspire environmental stewardship, and encourage everyone’s inner scientist.
