Integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics with Art + Design (STEAM) can be a particularly effective way to enhance science communication, education, and community engagement in ecological sciences. Participants of the workshop will be introduced to elements of STEAM, including how principles of interactive design and science visualization can be used to enhance scientific communication in research, education, and community engagement. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to (i) identify design and interactivity elements that are essential for enhancing science communication and (ii) apply design and interactivity principles elements to communicate a scientific topic of the participant’s choice.
