Ever struggle to get your message across because you’re nervous and don’t know what to say in the moment? Many scientists feel the same, and some have begun turning to improv classes to help with their on the fly communication skills. Improv is all about learning to listen to your audience (or fellow collaborator) and responding accurately. The purpose of this workshop is to discuss and work through scenarios where improvisation can be used in science communication, focusing on 5 key skills: listening, speaking, collaborating, embracing spontaneity and failure, and being aware of your physical presence.

This workshop will be a relaxed setting where students can take turns improvising in a variety of situations.  It will be an unintimidating environment that brings students together and fosters conversation. This event will be open to all current high school, undergraduate, and graduate students as well as to recent graduates that are between phases.

Registration Fee: $0
