Natural history forms the basis of the varied ecological sub-disciplines, and this Inspire session focuses on how natural history has informed the science and passion of notable ecologists. Rather than a relic of the past, natural history is integral to the continued development, as well as the foundation of, ecological inquiry and scientific practice. Each 5-minute presentation will highlight the story of an ecologist whose work has been impacted by the study of natural history. We hope this session brings to light the contemporary relevance of natural history in the practice of ecology, will stir debate, and be a springboard for ideas that will bring natural history to the forefront of ecological discourse. This session is sponsored by the ESA Natural History Section.
