Teaching and researching at a small liberal arts college provides unique opportunities and challenges. Further, leaving a biology or ecology focused department to teach in a different, interdisciplinary field can leave you to chart your own path – both exciting and scary! Through my own experiences in leaving the major research university path to teach Data Analytics at a small private university, I have become more convinced than ever that post-graduate ecologists are qualified for a wide array of jobs. You just need the language and the confidence to translate your skills to where you want to be.
