NEON, the National Ecological Observatory Network, is built! This first-of-a-kind ecological observatory is now providing open access data, standardized measurements providing a backbone for your research, mobile deployment and remote sensing platforms to collect data at your research sites, and a growing community of users that are excited to share ideas and build collaborations with your research team. The goals of this session are to (1) facilitate discussions and networking among current and potential NEON users, (2) learn what the ESA community needs from NEON and NSF to support community research, and (3) explore NEON resources available to support research.

Early NEON users, featuring scientists currently using NEON resources, will answer your questions about working with NEON resources for their projects during a lively 30 minute, town hall style Q & A. During the remaining hour, learn more about NEON resources, funding, and PI-led projects at the NEON Share Fair, including NEON Observatory Director and scientists discussing featured NEON protocols and data products, NEON-Battelle VP sharing the other initiatives underway as part of Battelle Ecology efforts, NSF program officers answering questions about funding opportunities, representatives from the NEON STEAC (Science, Technology, and Education Advisory Committee) sharing opportunities to join NEON advisory groups, and early NEON users, including researchers funded by NSF MacroSystems Biology and Early NEON Science grants, sharing their projects. People interested in being Share Fair presenters will be able to sign-up ahead of time via the NEON Science web site.
