243, New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center
ESA students from across the country convene each April for this whirlwind D.C. experience. Students learn about careers in science policy from local policy professionals and receive training on engaging policymakers. The trip culminates with an exciting day of visits to their own congressional representatives on Capitol Hill to lobby an important issue: continuing federal support of the National Science Foundation. The Katherine S. McCarter Graduate Student Policy Award is a perfect way for ESA Students to get their feet wet in science policy, make a real contribution to the field, and learn first-hand about careers in science policy.
