We know that cities are getting hotter and drier and we are looking to climate analogues for future species selection. But cities generate lots of stormwater which we can use to irrigate our urban forests --- so we don’t necessarily have to go running to drier climates for inspiration. It’s getting hotter, but if we can select species which can use all that stormwater to survive the heat, maybe we can retain a leafy-green outlook and improve the health of our urban waterways.
