Attendees of this workshop will participate in a hands-on activity to help refine their proposals. After creating pairs and trios, registrants will meet during workshop time to discuss their proposals and talk about ideas for what has worked at their home institution. The workshop’s format is based on a similar process in creative writing groups where participants bring their own work and discuss with a peer where they are running into obstacles. The goal of this workshop is that members of each pair or trio return to their home institution with new tools for how to make future studies more inclusive and with connections they can rely on to support the ideas they want to implement. This workshop is ideal for any member of the ESA community who is interested in collaborating with new people to learn about what works--or doesn’t work--at their home institution when it comes to making ecology a field that everyone can participate in. Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring their proposals and think ahead of time about what they want to do to make their projects more inclusive, restorative, or accessible.
