Careers as an Environmental Technician

Environmental technicians apply ecological content knowledge and skills in a variety of work settings. Careers are available with environmental organizations, government agencies, military branches, and a variety of industries. There is no typical environmental technician job, and the work can be carried out in the field, in an office, or at an industrial site. Each employment sector requires specific knowledge sets, workforce soft skills, and sometimes certifications for job candidates. Employment for environmental technicians is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations and is expected to increase by 11 percent from 2022 to 2030.
