Incentives to improve the participation of underrepresented groups in Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity (EBB) are usually expressed through statements encouraging participation of people from those groups in positions held in research institutions of developed economies. Despite positive, those incentives do not overcome the enormous economic differences between the developed and underdeveloped countries. Consequently, statements are not enough to guarantee underrepresented groups' participation in Global North and effectively reduce inequalities and amplify diversity. As a step forward, research institutes should consider economic differences in the form of monetary help adjusted accordingly to the currency in which the researcher comes from
