Future urban resilience to pressing climate challenges depends on diverse and transformative solutions. Co-developing solutions across multiple perspectives can address the complexities and interdependencies within urban systems. Drawing on co-produced knowledge and positive future visions of New York City (NYC) in 2100, we present scenarios developed during participatory workshops with NYC practitioners to envision a resilient and climate-adapted city. We build on a framework of transformative capacities needed to achieve future visions and highlight the value, as well as tensions, of participatory processes in developing transformative and anticipatory capacities and a diversity of future transitions toward a climate resilient future.
