Translating scientific research for policy requires buy-in from all sides

Research on aboveground biodiversity have gone a long way to influence the development of policy and land management from local to global scales. However, soil biodiversity has been largely left out of these efforts. In 2012, the Global Soil Biodiversity Initiative was formed to network scientists and create a more visible platform by which to translate scientific research for use in policy. I will discuss projects led by the GSBI and the value of having buy-in from both the research and policy sides of these projects, and touch on next steps as we enter the UN Decade for restoration.
