Policy solidarity: Why we should be thinking about wildlife and human health as one

On Demand
Summer Traylor, Environmental Science and Management, Portland State University;
Understanding the health of wildlife and human communities is at the forefront of microplastics research; however, policy plans ranging from local - federal levels are lacking. Wildlife and humans both face the same issues when it comes to plastic pollution: it’s in our water, in our food, and in our bodies. Regulating plastic pollution for both wildlife and humans is becoming more pressing as our understanding of microplastics grows. This talk will focus on microplastics research in Oregon's seafood species and what joint policy can look like when we combine efforts to mitigate the presence of microplastics in the environment.
