For many, our first natural history experiences happen in our backyards and neighborhood parks. Whether we witness the screaming call of a blue jay soaring overhead or marvel at bumble bees buzzing from dandelion to clover, nature lurks in our most familiar places. And the wonderment is universal. I share the sparks that inspired my appreciation for some of our most familiar species, with hopes to instill a sense of wonder and action with all I encounter.
