This is a journal-agnostic interactive workshop run by PLOS (Public Library of Science). Modules will cover: peer review overview, the 5 Rs of peer review, and top tips for peer reviewers. 

Activities included in these modules:

• Group discussion about the results of accepting to peer review a manuscript under a range of circumstances.
• How to check for competing interests.
• What is the manuscript about?: read an abstract and introduce a sample article in small groups, and summarize the topic(s) that the manuscript is about and what its claims are.
• What did they do?: read the methods of the same sample article in small groups, and summarize what the authors did. Review whether the topic(s) and claims are in line with the methods used. 
• Reformat the review: mark up a sample review with 3 ways to improve
• What makes good feedback?: poll and group discussion about ideal feedback.
• Action plan: review readiness to start participating in peer review using a checklist.
