The Plant Science Decadal Vision states that “Fully realizing our vision for plant science requires research environments that are inclusive, equitable, and geared toward incentivizing, supporting, and rewarding collaborative research.” While issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are becoming more broadly recognized, it is not often clear how ecologists can take action and contribute to building work environments that are diverse, equitable, inclusive, and adaptive. The goal of this talk is to overview some successful DEI efforts to help identify interventions that ecologists can take at multiple scales and career stages or positions of power to catalyze change.
