The future health of the planet and its inhabitants centers on the roles plants play in the environment. With this in mind, scientists across the research community gathered at the Plant Summit 2019 (plantae.org/PSRN) to identify priority areas for investment in research, people and technology over the next decade. The resulting "Decadal Vision" addresses global challenges such as climate change, sustainable agriculture and loss of biodiversity, and it implores scientists to work across disciplinary boundaries to leverage the power of plant systems from global to molecular scales. Here we provide an overview of the "Decadal Vision" and opportunities for engagement.
