Group Name: Training Undergraduate Biologists through urban Agriculture (TUBA) Network

Description: We will provide examples of how campus gardens and other urban agriculture projects have been used successfully to teach biology principles through curricular-based research experiences. Participants will learn about a developing network - Training Undergraduate Biologists through urban Agriculture (TUBA), which is supported by a NSF Research Coordination Network Incubator Grant. The primary objective of this workshop is to develop additional methodologies and approaches for integrating urban agriculture and campus research gardens into an inclusive and community-oriented biology curriculum. To do this, we will facilitate small group exercises to explore the state of urban agriculture research, steps to creating biology curriculum focused on urban agriculture, and ideas for connecting urban agriculture education and research to community engagement activities.
