The Thomas More University Biology Field Station is an aquatic biology research facility and STEM outreach center located just outside of Cincinnati, OH, on the shores of the Ohio River. Participants will receive a tour of the facilities, presentations on the research & outreach programs, and will be able to go out on a boat and conduct electrofishing, plankton sampling and water quality testing. The research at the field station includes propagation of freshwater mussels & hellbenders, fish surveys, harmful algae bloom monitoring and water quality testing. Formal research collaborations exist between the USEPA Office of Research & Development and the US Fish & Wildlife Services for some of these projects. In addition, the Station hosts K-12 schools for daylong field trips, teacher workshops and week-long STEM camps, as well as a Chautauqua-style course for college & university professors in our LEED-certified facility. The website for the Field Station is: www.thomasmore.edu/fieldstation.
