This discussion is a call to both the disciplines of the natural sciences, particularly ecology, and urban design to engage in research and outreach together in order to support the amelioration of our urban environments through “evidence-based” design. All too often “ecological design” is claimed, but rarely reflective and rigorous. The conversation will focus on how designers and scientists can pursue imperatives as collaborators and also outline several constraints and opportunities for successful collaboration.
