Description: In this evening we hope to celebrate ecology in Latin America. This mixer will feature a brief business meeting for sharing news, achievements and opportunities within the Chapter, followed by the presentation of the winners of the Whittaker Travel Awards and the Chapter Student Travel Awards. The objective of the Latin American Chapter is to promote interactions with colleagues working in ecological issues in Latin America. The Latin American Chapter has over 150 members and we would like to expand membership throughout the region. In this meeting we would also like to propose to conduct activities (e.g., symposia, workshops, etc.) at regional meetings between ESA and regional ecological societies in Latin America such as, Sociedad Científica Mexicana de Ecología, Sociedade de Ecologia do Brasil, Asociación Argentina de Ecología, etc. We seek to establish collaborations and novel ways to address common goals, emerging challenges, and develop join projects to promote concrete interactions among ecological societies.
