The concept of One Health began as a global strategy for expanding multi-disciplinary collaborations and communications in all aspects of health care for humans, animals and the environment. It seeks synergy to advance health care, accelerate research, expand scientific knowledge and improve medical/veterinary education and clinical care. Beyond this beginning, we are exploring the need for expansion of the One Health concept beyond the disciplines of animal, environmental, and human health to include a more global learning approach to all disciplines that reflects the true multi-disciplinary nature of rising global issues. This special session will discuss the evolution of One Health globally. We invite conference attendees to an open discussion involving the strategies being utilized to implement a practice that seeks physical, functional, and societal well-being for humans, plants, animals, and the environment through a multi-disciplinary, global learning systems approach. We invite all disciplines to this discussion to explore avenues of implementation via education, research and outreach, and interactions with regional communities and beyond.
