The 2012 ESA listing of Atlantic Sturgeon underscored the need for increased conservation and recovery actions to reduce impacts limiting population recovery. In a coordinated effort between state and federal organizations we have developed a daily product using NASA earth observations to dynamically model Atlantic Sturgeon occurrence, creating real-time and forecasted risk maps in the Delaware River Estuary. By distributing this product to mobile platforms and an interactive web interface we are providing a tool to limit commercial bycatch thereby fostering recovery of this species while minimizing impacts to DE’s commercial fisheries.
