Are you the innovative, risk taker in your department? Or the experienced, reliable one? Is your research abstract and theoretical or targeted and applied? Many scientists cringe at the notion of "branding" themselves or their science, but establishing a cohesive marketing strategy can help you achieve better students, better collaborators, and more successful grant applications. In this exciting and interactive workshop, we we will learn the fundamentals of developing, maintaining, and leveraging a brand to expand your professional opportunities.

Cultivating a brand is a journey of self-discovery. During this workshop, we will use hands-on activities to establish the features of the products and services that you offer, determine what qualities you want people to associate with your research, and develop a “brand strategy” to get you there. We will create a “voice” for your science and discuss brand standards for your marketing materials. We will explore distribution channels and how to communicate visually and verbally. This workshop is designed for scientists at all levels but is particularly useful for early-career ecologists. Come ready to learn, play, and grow professionally.

Registration Fee: $0
