The Development Goal #2 “End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture” is a noble goal that should have been achieve years ago. Today we have almost a billion people still suffering from hunger and undernourishment and slight more people overweight or obese. A food system that produces both hunger and obesity is in need of restructuring. The hunger and malnourishment problem is not a strictly technical problem but a problem of political will. Examining the food system as a socioecological system can provide insights on how to solve this problem.
