Monday, August 10, 2015: 8:00 PM-10:00 PM
317, Baltimore Convention Center
Organizer:
Alaina G. Levine
Networking is not meeting someone at a conference and never speaking to them again. Rather, networking is a spectrum of activities that fosters a win-win partnership and lasts the life of the two parties. In this fun workshop, learn the secrets of being a master networker – how to cultivate strategic mutually-beneficial relationships, find people to add to your networks, “work a room”, start conversations with people you have never met before, and obtain information that can set you on a path to career victory. The importance of and use of social networks will be emphasized and a step-by-step guide to leveraging LinkedIn will be explained, including 10+ Surprising Ways LinkedIn can specifically support your networking and career ambitions. This evening event is meant to be a fun, interactive workshop that will aid you in optimizing your experience at the ESA Annual Meeting and beyond and is the perfect partner and prologue to the Science Speed Dating: Networking for the Career Ecologist workshop on Tuesday afternoon. Come enjoy the night, meet your peers and colleagues, and learn how to be a Networking Rock Star!
