Most jobs are not advertised, and even if they are, there is usually a short-list of candidates already in mind. So how do you find out about and access the 90% of jobs that are "hidden"? Networking and reputation management! In this session, we will focus on game-changing strategies and tactics to identify new opportunities or create your own, locate decision-makers within organizations, solidify your reputation in the minds of those who hire, and gain access to hidden jobs and career-changing opportunities. We will delve into networking techniques and tactics, including a special focus on how to leverage your online presence for social media networking return on investment (ROI). And we will also address how to forge strong mutually-beneficial mentor-protégé partnerships, from both perspectives.
This workshop, to be held Saturday evening, provides, a fun, enjoyable, and no-pressure environment in which to sharpen your networking abilities as you prepare for the ESA Annual Meeting. And it is meant to work in concert with the Career Workshop (Exploring Diverse Career Pathways in Ecology) on Sunday. So come, spend Saturday evening with your peers, network, and learn how to propel your career into the stratosphere! Registration for this workshop includes a free, personalized signed copy of the Presenter's new book, Networking for Nerds (Wiley, 2015).

Registration Fee: $10
