To better predict ecosystem function, researchers have recently begun developing models structured around microbial traits. These models are capable of addressing ecosystem feedbacks from shifts in microbial communities, and in doing so, improve their accuracy. However, in order to parameterize them, we need better information regarding (1) which traits are critical to model and (2) how these traits vary among fungal groups. I will address both questions in this Ignite talk.
