Qualitative data from interviews can be very useful to ecologists who might want information about peoples' views on a restoration project, for instance, or for ecology faculty trying to better understand why their students poorly understand a key concept. However, most ecologists have little experience with qualitative investigations, including how to even start thinking about doing this type of work. This workshop is an introduction to use of qualitative data in both education and ecology research settings and situations. The workshop takes a practical, hands-on approach to the design of interviews and analysis of these type of data.
